We’re so grateful that you’re joining us on our special day. Whether this will be your first time in Bali or you’re bule lokal, we’ve organised some tips for getting to and around this incredible island.

BALI 101

Bali
is one of the 17,500 islands in Indonesia—a gorgeous oasis in a sprawling archipelago (of more gorgeous oases). Bali is the only Hindu-majority province in Indonesia, and it is renowned for its highly developed arts and rich history. Bali is part of the Coral Triangle, the area with the highest biodiversity of marine species, and home to at least four active volcanoes (a destination for everyone).
Being so near the equator, the weather is warm year-round, with temperatures averaging between 27°C to 32°C (81°F to 89°F). Consider packing light and airy clothes, as well as modest attire for temple visits.
End of June marks the beginning of Bali's peak tourist season, which runs through August. To ensure you secure the best deals and availability, it’s advisable to book your flights at least four to six months in advance.

FLIGHTS

Flight durations to Bali vary depending on your departure city. From North America and Europe, we highly recommend Singapore Airlines, which offers a direct flight to Singapore and an easy connection into Bali. We also like Japan Airlines, ANA or Cathay Pacific for transit through Japan and Hong Kong if you want to make a trip out of it (although be mindful of some connections in Tokyo requiring a change of airports). Emirates, Qatar and Turkish Airways are also great options to fly from the east coast.
Please considering joining our WhatsApp group for updates regarding group travels, so you don’t have to travel alone!

VISAS

Visitors can obtain a Visa on Arrival (VoA) for a stay of up to 30 days. Currently, a VoA costs USD 35 / IDR 500,000—please check the latest visa requirements and regulations on the official Indonesian immigration website or contact your local Indonesian consulate.
We recommend applying for an eVisa to avoid the queue when you arrive at the airport. Otherwise, you are able to use an ATM to withdraw IDR, line up, and pay for the VoA once you arrive to an airport in Indonesia.

CONNECTIVITY

It’s easy to stay connected in Bali. We prefer using eSIMS from apps such as Nomad (enter code PIET44KM for 25% off!), Simly and Holafly for the best deals to stay connected to friends or work, share your stories on Instagram, or brainrot on TikTok while you’re literally in Paradise. Either search for Indonesia specifically, or some plans such as Nomad’s “APAC” will bundle 20+ south-Asian countries in one plan.
Alternatively, you can buy SIM cards from airports. The most popular network that will give you the best coverage is Telkomsel.

MOBILITY

Transportation in Bali is convenient despite the island's often congested roads and narrow alleyways. Scooters are popular modes of travel, with apps like Gojek and Grab being widely used for their affordability and ease. These apps offer motorbike taxis, which are a fast and efficient way to navigate Bali's tight spaces and traffic. If you’re up for it, you can also rent your own scooter or moped (via Bikago). Whatever you do, for the love of God, drive safe and always wear a helmet.
For those preferring traditional taxis, Bluebird is a trusted and reputable company. Gojek/Grab also provide safe and reliable car transports. It's advisable to avoid using random taxis or drivers to ensure safety and avoid overcharging.
We advise against renting a car in Bali—the roads can be extremely tricky to drive, the traffic unbearable, and you will be driving on the other side of the road. If you prefer to hire a personal chauffeur, you can reach out to Melati directly to hire a private driver or search through Viator—which may be a good idea for people traveling in larger groups.
